"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."

Question 1: Who Does God Say You Are?

Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9

The world is constantly trying to tell us who we are. It says our identity is found in our career, our successes, our failures, our relationships, or even our social media image. But God says something entirely different.

Peter doesn't tell believers to strive to become chosen, royal, holy, or God's possession. He simply declares, "You are."These aren't goals to achieve—they are truths to receive through Jesus Christ.

If you are in Christ, you are:

• Chosen—God pursued you before you ever pursued Him (John 15:16).

• Royal—You belong to the King of Kings.

• Holy—Set apart for God's purposes.

• God's treasured possession—Purchased by the blood of Jesus.

Your identity isn't based on what you've done.
It's based on what Christ has done.

Ask Yourself:
"Am I allowing the world to define me, or am I embracing who God says I already am?"

Question 2: How Should My Identity Change the Way I Live?

Scripture: Hebrews 4:16

"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence..."

Because we are a royal priesthood, we have direct access to God through Jesus Christ. We don't need someone else to stand between us and God. We have the privilege of prayer and the responsibility of representing Christ wherever we go.

Likewise, being a holy nation doesn't mean we're perfect—it means we're set apart. Our values aren't determined by culture but by Christ.

You don't have to search endlessly for your purpose. Peter gives it to us.

Your workplace is ministry.

Your neighborhood is ministry.

Your family is ministry.

God didn't save you to sit on the sidelines. He saved you to represent Him.

Ask Yourself:
"Does my daily life reflect the identity God has given me?"

Question 3: Why Has God Given Me This Identity?

Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9b

"...that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."

Peter doesn't stop with who we are. He tells us why we are.

We are chosen so we can proclaim Christ.

We are priests so we can represent Christ.

We are holy so the world can see Christ.

We are God's treasured possession so others will want to know Christ.

The enemy continually attacks our identity. He whispers:

• "You're not enough."

• "You're too broken."

• "You're defined by your past."

But God answers every lie with one powerful declaration:

You are chosen.
You are royal.
You are holy.
You are Mine.

When your identity is settled in Christ, your mission becomes clear—to shine His light in a dark world.

Ask Yourself:
"Am I using the identity God has given me to point others to Jesus?"
